What kind of menu do you want served at your wedding?

It might not seem like the most important question when it comes to planning your wedding, but it should be near the top of the list! The food and drink you serve at your reception can set the tone for the entire event, from start to finish, you should take some time to consider what type of feeling or mood you want to create on your big day. If you're having trouble coming up with the ideal appetizers, entrees, and desserts, here are a few tips to get you started.

1. Choose the serving style.

Do you want a seated dinner, buffet-style, or food stations? Each option has its own set of pros and cons. A sit-down dinner is usually more formal, while a buffet can be more relaxed. Food stations can be a fun way to mix things up, but they can also be more expensive. Work with your wedding reception venue to determine which of the styles will work best for the room layout and their staff on hand. Decide which of these will also fit into your budget.

2. Consider your guests’ dietary restrictions.

When you’re planning your menu, be sure to take into account any dietary restrictions your guests might have. If you know that someone has a food allergy or is gluten-free, for example, make sure to include dishes that everyone can enjoy.

3. Keep it seasonal.

When planning your menu, consider the season – both outdoor weather and food availability – as well as your wedding’s time of day. If you’re having a night-time ceremony, for example, it’s a good idea to go with dishes that are heartier so people don't go hungry if the event stretches into later hours. If it's summertime, salads and fresh fruits are good choices.

4. Keep your budget in mind.

As you're planning out your wedding menu, consider how much it will cost to make each dish. Some delicious dishes can also be quite expensive, while others might taste just as good at a lower price point; it’s all about finding the right balance for your big day.

5. Think about your theme.

If you’re having a themed wedding, your menu should reflect that. For example, if you’re having a beach-themed wedding, you might want to serve seafood dishes or tropical cocktails.

Some other things to consider when picking your wedding menu:

-If you prefer a buffet, go for something that’s easy to serve, like mini sandwiches.

-Soups are also a good option, particularly if you want to offer your guests something warm on a cold day.

-If you want something simple for the main course, try a roast beef or turkey. Just be sure to have some vegetarian options on hand as well!

-For dessert, why not go with a classic like chocolate cake or apple pie? If you want something a little more unique, try serving some international desserts that your guests might not have had before such as tiramisu or creme brulee.

With so many options to choose from, there’s no need to feel overwhelmed when planning your wedding menu. Just take your time and think about what will look and taste best for your big day.
